Ruth Ellen Bolton, 93, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017, at Midland Hospice House.
Ruth was born on February 10, 1923, in Cloud County, Kansas, to Guy and Alice Harrington. She married Donald Morrow on October 4, 1944, in Concordia, Kansas. They moved to Emporia, Kansas in 1956 and they lived there for 21 years. Ruth was a homemaker until Donald's death in 1963 and later worked as a bookkeeper in the education department at Emporia State University. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years. Ruth was a wonderful cook and seamstress and loved entertaining family and friends.
On October 28, 1977, she married Max Bolton and moved to Topeka, Kansas. She worked in the Kansas Department of Education as a bookkeeper until she retired in 1988. She was a member of Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Conroy of Topeka, Kansas, Cindy Harrington of Guymon, Oklahoma, and Mitzy (Chester) Remington of Kearney, Missouri; son-in-law, Russell Conroy; step-sons, Scott and Steve Bolton of Topeka; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Northland Christian Church, 3102 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66617. A private family burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
