Ruth B. Steele, 89, Topeka, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born on October 7, 1923 in Osborne, Kansas to Harold O. and Jennie (Pfortmiller) Beisner.
Ruth graduated from Osborne High School and attended the University of Kansas. She was an administrative assistant for Dr. James Young at Washburn University for 30 years. She was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church, Washburn University Retirees, Sewing Club, several bridge clubs and was involved in various community volunteer activities.
On June 20, 1948, she married Richard L. "Dick" Steele in Osborne, he survives. She is also survived by their two daughters, Karen (Marvin) Sessler, Ellinwood, KS and Cindy (Howard) Hasler of Lawrence, KS; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 1320 SE 6th Ave, Topeka, 66607 or Countryside United Methodist Church, 3221 SW Burlingame Rd Topeka, 66611.
