Ruth Ann Guilfoil, 79, of Carbondale, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015.
She was born December 12, 1935 in rural Flush, Kansas, the daughter of Edward Glen and Bertha (Zoeller) Guilfoil. She was a graduate of St. George High School.
Ruth was employed by Kansas Department of Health and Environment, retiring after 40 years of service.
She was a member of Metropolitan Community Church of Topeka. She volunteered at the Helping Hands Humane Society and YWCA in Topeka.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Schimmel, Lawrence, KS; three cats, Little Bit, Rosie and Maggie; three nieces, Terry Smith, Tracey Mutter and Tina Umscheid and three nephews, Tom, Ted and Tim Umscheid.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bud Guilfoil and a sister, Marian Umscheid.
Ruth enjoyed camping, bird watching, riding motorcycles, KU Men's and Women's Basketball and watching Sunflower Journeys. She also rescued many orphaned animals.
Honoring her request, Ruth was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Metropolitan Community Church in Topeka.
