Ruth Alberta Aeschliman, 98 of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at McCrite Plaza in Topeka. She was born on January 19, 1911 in Sabetha, KS to Andrew C. and Rosa (Staehli) Aeschliman.
She graduated in 1928 from Corning High School in Corning, KS. She then attended Kansas State Teacher's College at Emporia where she received her degree in Education. She taught in numerous rural schools in Nemaha County and before retiring taught in Great Bend, KS for 27 years. Ms. Aeschliman was a resident of Great Bend since 1948 moving to Topeka in 2002. She was a life member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Wroth of Topeka, KS; and Helen Coe of Soldier, KS; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Aeschliman, Opal Stalcup and Alvina Shaffer.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 14 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Ms. Aeschliman will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday morning.
