Ruth A. Coffindaffer

Ruth A. Coffindaffer, 82, of Tecumseh, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at her home. She was born on December 3, 1925 in Topeka, the daughter of Laurence and Hulda Johnson. She graduated from Topeka High School. She was employed by Topeka Bank & Trust for 40 years before retiring. Ruth married Anthony "Tony" Coffindaffer on September 4, 1952. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1970. Survivors include two daughters, Renee Wohler of Honolulu, HI, Patricia Rice of Tecumseh , four grandchildren, Marie, Christina, Janice Ruth, Rachael, seven great-grandchildren, and four sisters, Harriett Horvath of Odenton, MD, Frances Noble of Tecumseh, Betty Davis of Lawrence, Mary Jane Fleenor of Topeka. She was preceded in death two brothers, Eugene Johnson and Harold Johnson, Sr. and one sister, Lucille Schmidt. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Ruth will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. The casket will remain closed as per Ruth's wishes.
