Rudy Kramer, 77, Topeka, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005 at home. Rudy was born April 23, 1928, at Salina, KS, the son of Fred and Reba Kramer.

Rudy married Betty D. Lutz on June 7, 1957 at the All Faiths Chapel on the Kansas State University campus.

Rudy graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University and was a proud Wildcat throughout his life. He was a professional engineer registered in Kansas and spent most of his career working for the Kansas Department of Transportation.

He was a member of the Topeka First Church of the Nazarene and was actively involved in his church from serving as a Sunday School teacher to taking care of the church building and grounds. He was active in the Boy Scouts, where among other things, he earned the Silver Beaver award. Rudy pursued a lifelong hobby in the garden and was a Master Gardener.

Rudy was a loving husband and a proud and supportive father. He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; four children and their spouses: Donna Spielman and her husband Richard, Hoyt; Bradley and his wife Joyce, Manhattan, Greg and his wife Jimi, Topeka, and Kris and his wife Dawn, Topeka; 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and one brother, Fred, Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lou Woods; a daughter, Kay Cain; and a grandson, Little Joe Cain.

Rudy developed a deep and personal relationship with his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was known for his love of his family, enjoyment of life, and service to society. He will be missed by his family, co-workers, and life-long friends. He was well loved and respected.

The family is deeply grateful to the outstanding staff of the Midland Hospice Care and Dr. Petrik and his staff for their loving care.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2005 at the Topeka First Church of the Nazarene, 1001 Buchanan. Mr. Kramer will lie in state at 8:00 a.m., Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel and the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
