Ruby M. Cunningham, 85, Topeka, passed away November 5, 2006. She was born November 15, 1920 in Eudora, Kansas to Gideon and Lottie Laughlin Neis. She married Ernest "Ken" Cunningham on May 2, 1959 in Eudora, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1997. They had one daughter, Karen. Ruby worked for AT&SF Railway in Topeka for 15 years. She and her husband owned and operated Empire Rental and Leasing Company for approximately 20 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church; Business Girls League (BGL) of Topeka; Santa Fe Women's Club (past president); Santa Fe Retirees Club (Co-editor for a number of years ) and National Association of Railway Business Women (KC Chapter) and transferred to the Topeka Chapter several years ago. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Cook and husband Kevin of Flower Mound, Texas and twin grandchildren Erin and Ethan. She is also survived by 8 neices and nephews; several great neices and nephews and great great neices and nephews. Ruby will lie in state on Thursday, November 9th from 2:00 - 9:00p.m. Family will greet friends Thursday evening from 6:30 - 8:00p.m. Services will be held Friday, November 10th at 11:00a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
