Roy V. Uhl, 91, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 21, 2010, at Atria Hearthstone Assisted Living. He was born December 4, 1919, in Denison, Kansas, the son of John and Grace Uhl. He married Roberta L. Huntsman on March 19, 1940, she passed away in 2003. He established Roy V. Uhl Company, Inc. in 1953; performing mud-jacking, foundation repair and other services in and around the Topeka area until his retirement in 1995. Throughout his life, he enjoyed elk, quail and pheasant hunting, as well as fishing, bowling and gardening. In 2009, he was inducted into the Topeka Bowling Association Hall of Fame for his long time support and sponsorship. He was also a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Survivors include three sons, Vernon (Song) Uhl, O'Fallon, Missouri; Donald (Kathy) Uhl, Lancaster; Dennis (Debbie) Uhl, Topeka; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Uhl, and two brothers, John Uhl and Dale Uhl. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2021 SW 29th Street, Topeka, KS 66611. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Roy will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27th, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, where the family will gather to visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
