Roy L. Myers, 90, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away in Colorado Springs, CO Saturday, November 19, 2022.
He was born November 25, 1931, in Harveyville, Kansas, the son of Leonard and Bertha (Tucker) Myers. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1949. He joined the United States Marine Corp. following high school and deployed to Korea. He was wounded in action and was honorably discharged in 1951.
Roy married Carol L. Sturgis on September 26, 1952 in Topeka, Kansas. They had three children, Tara, Kevin and Stacey.
Roy started working construction in 1952 and worked for various construction companies until he and his wife started their own company, R.L. Myers Construction. He retired in 2011.
He was a member of the American Legion- Capital Post# 1, the Moose Lodge and bowling leagues with his wife, Carol. Roy also enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, fishing, hunting and golfing.
Survivors include his children, Tara (Mike) McCoy, Kevin (Debra) Myers and Stacey Myers; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol L. Myers on September 11, 2012; his parents and siblings.
A visitation will be on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Topeka Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project P.O.
