Roy A. Westfall, 74, Topeka, passed away December 18, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 3, 1935 in Lawton, OK to John M. and Emma C. (Cooke) Westfall. He graduated from Topeka High School and attended Washburn University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1963.
Roy married Jane Wolverton on September 25, 1960. He worked for Ramada Inn Hotels for over 20 years. Roy and his wife later owned and operated Roy's Daylight Donuts for 15 years, retiring in 2006.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years and their three children; sons, Mark Westfall, Mission, Craig (Shari) Westfall, Topeka; daughter, Glenda (Colby) Fries, Liberty Township, OH; grandchildren, Lauren and Allison Fries, Claire and Brady Westfall; and 16 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Polly Grandmontagne, Shirley McCormick; and brothers, John and Lewis Westfall.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church or Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Road, Topeka, Kansas 66617.
