Rose Sulfridge

Rose Marie Sulfridge passed away April 2, 2008 at age 74 in her Son's home in Topeka, KS with family by her side.

Rose Ennis was born a coal miner's daughter on February 3, 1934 in Alba, Missouri to Isaac J. Ennis and Blanche M. Earl.
She was introduced by a girlfriend to fellow teenager Max Merle Windler at a community baseball game in La Cygne, KS. They married on November 24, 1951 in Lyndon, KS. Rose and Max had two sons.
After the young family's Southeastern Kansas farm home burned down, they moved to town, Paola, KS, where she worked as a Beautician. The family moved to Peoria, IL in the mid 60s. Rose ran her own Beauty Shop for many years from her home in Peoria. Max died in 1974.
Dec 6, 1975, she married Tilman A. Sulfridge who passed away in 2004.
Rose was also preceded in death by her older sister Evelyn.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Gale Windler and his wife Paula of Arizona and Merle Dean Windler and his wife Linda of Topeka, KS; two step children and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She is also survived by two Sisters, Linda Jones and Doris Nichols and three Brothers, Marvin Ennis, Sr.; Ralph Ennis, and Delbert Ennis.

She loved to spend time with friends and family; was known for always helping others and hosting family gatherings. She loved games, especially cards. Prior to her illness of the last year, Rose kept fit in warm weather by golfing three or more times a week, refusing to ride in a cart. In the winter, she bowled in several leagues. Year round, Rose regularly walked 2 miles a day with friends. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, and did a variety of volunteer work, and stayed active in the Peoria community.

A candlelight memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, April 17th, 2008 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 N. University Street in Peoria, IL.

Pastor Barry Long of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church will preside.

In Lieu of Flowers, please make donations in her name to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Concordia Lutheran School, or The American Cancer Society.

She will be inurned in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Paola, KS next to Max.
