7. Background: Mrs. Healey was raised in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, where she graduated from high school.
She attended Middle Tennessee State Teachers College, Murfreesboro. She lived with her family in Germany for 5
years before moving to Topeka in 1972. Rose Marie was assistant to the Speaker of the House Duane S. Pete
McGill in 1976. She then served under the administrations of Secretarys of State Elwill Shanahan, Jack Brier, and
Bill Graves for 18 years. She followed Bill Graves after his election as Governor and retired from the Office of the
Governor in November, 1995.
