Rosalie Lura McHenry, 86, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2006 at Brewster Health Center in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on February 2, 1920 to Ivan and Eleanor Hiller and spent much of her childhood in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Rosalie graduated from Emporia State Teacher's College with a degree in Library Science. She married Orville McHenry in 1941 and they settled in Kansas City, Kansas. Rosalie was a high school librarian for a short time. She was also a member of the Central Avenue Methodist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Together she and Orville remodeled, redecorated, and managed several small apartment buildings. In addition Rosalie helped Orville run a driver's education school. She was also a talented homemaker. Rosalie was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her family and friends cherish many loving memories of Rosalie.
Her surviving family includes her husband Orville McHenry and two daughters and sons-in-law: Gail and Bob Strader of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Donna and Steve Reichle of Topeka, Kansas. Other survivors include granddaughter Jennifer Strader Lozano and husband Luis, grandson Steven Strader and wife Krista, granddaughter Morgan Reichle Bonnell and husband Tim, and grandson Cole Reichle.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, 7433 SW 29th Street, Topeka, KS 66614.
