Ronald Dean Caylor

Topeka- Ronald Dean Caylor, age 73, died February 29, 2024. He was born July 7, 1950 in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Vernon Dean Caylor and Martha Joan (Baugher) Caylor.

Ronald graduated from Washburn Rural High School, Class of 1968 and Washburn University, Class of 1986 with a BA in Computer Science. Following his high school graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Regina Self in 1969. They shared a wonderful life and had two children. They were married 53 years. Ronald joined the Army Reserves in 1970 and trained as a medic. He was discharged with honorable mention in 1975. Ronald retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 30 years in 2002 and moved to Georgetown, Texas.

Ron loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking. After retirement, Ron decided to go back to work and be his own boss. He built a successful lawn care service in Georgetown, Texas. He also volunteered his lawn care expertise working on several houses with Habitat for Humanity. Ronald and Regina returned to their hometown of Topeka, Kansas in 2021.

He loved taking road trips and going on cruises with his wife. His favorite destinations were Hawaii and Alaska.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by Lori Michelle Caylor, daughter; Jeannie (Caylor) Durst, sister; and Edward R. Self, father-in-law. Surviving in addition to his wife, Regina (Self) Caylor is his son, Craig Lee Caylor and his wife, Tauni of New Castle Pennsylvania and five grandchildren, Emma Caylor, Chessa Caylor, Alton Caylor, Joram Caylor and Saga Caylor; mother-in-law, Eloise Self of Topeka, Kansas; brother-in-law Rick Self and his wife, Connie of Burlingame, Kansas; sister-in-law Teresa Self of Topeka, Kansas; brother-in-law Edward L. Self of Kansas City, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am on March 8, 2024 at Mount Hope Funeral Chapel. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 11:00am.
