Ronald "Dean" O'Neill, 77, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service to God, and dedication to his family. Born to Betty (Scoville) and Francis Howard O’Neill on May 8, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, Dean graduated from Winchester High School in 1965. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics in 1974 and a Master of Science in Communications in 1975 from Kansas State University.
Dean served his country as a shipfitter in the U.S. Navy from November 1970 to October 1972. After his service and completion of his education, he married the love of his life, Debby, on December 23, 1978, with whom he shared over 45 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife Debby; his sons, Mike (Daughter-in-Law, Delphina) and Chris (Daughter-in-Law, Jen and Granddaughter, Ruth); and his sister, Jan. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Larry.
Dean appreciated life’s simple pleasures, like a bowl of strawberry shortcake and a 44oz cup of Diet Mountain Dew from Quik Trip, often his sole subsistence after a long day. Dean was also passionate about photography, fitness, Christmas Day, and loyally (though often exasperatedly) supporting his Kansas State Wildcats.
Most importantly, Dean was a devoted follower of Christ whose deep faith shaped every aspect of his life. He was a lifelong member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church. His love for the Lord was not just something he professed, but something he lived daily. Through his kindness, generosity, and unshakable trust in God, he became a cornerstone to those around him. His life was a powerful testament to the transforming power of grace, showing others what it means to walk with Christ.
Dean’s last 3 years might have been his most enjoyable. He had the opportunity to see the son who many thought would never marry finally say ‘I Do’. He was able to witness the birth of his precious Grand Daughter. Lastly, he was able to spend a week with his entire family and friends worshipping the Lord at the Reformed Presbyterian International Conference just several months ago.
His family will forever cherish these memories in addition to the may others that were shared over the years.
