Ronald Lee Buchanan, 84, Auburn, KS, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Stormont Vail Hospital of a heart attack.
Ron lived in Topeka, KS, his entire life. He graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1955.
He married Sue C. Johnson on August 16, 1958 in Wichita, KS. He worked at Quaker Oats for 25 years. He was in the Marine Reserves for 6 years. Ron was very active in the local Arab Shrine as Director of Legion of Honor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Buchanan. He is survived by his daughter, Becky (Kirk) Drager, son, William (Priscilla) Buchanan, son, Brad Buchanan, daughter, Brenda Weintraub and 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Ron will lie in state at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home Tuesday, January 26, 2021, from noon until 4:00 p.m.
Family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. to follow.
Private family service will be Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the funeral home.
A public graveside service with Military Honors to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery at 12:30 p.m., 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka, KS. Masks are required.
