51, Topeka passed away March 18, 2004 at the VA Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. He was born January 13, 1953 in Ottawa, KS the son of Ceceil C. and Jacquline Abney Mewhinney. Ron graduated from Washburn Rural High School and attended Washburn University. Ron worked in paint sales in Las Vegas NV and as a painter, self employed. At the time of his death he was employed as a geriatric aide for Colmery O'Neil Veterans Hospital Nursing Home in Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was married to Piper Rayl in 1972, they divorced. He married Brenda Vaugn in 1979, they divorced. Ron is survived by his sister, Sharon Hotchkiss and her husband, Gary Blitsch, Topeka: his neice, Natalie Hotchkiss, Granada, Spain; nephew, Neal Hotchkiss and his wife Shawna and their children, Ashley, Hayden and Emory Hotchkiss, Topeka. Cremation is planned. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, March25, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Midtown Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Topeka Rescue Mission or to the Arthritis Foundation , Topeka, Chapter. On-line condolences may be made at www.penwellgabel.com
