Roger H. Swank, 84, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, June 02, 2011. Roger was born June 3, 1926 in Burlington, Iowa, son of Lawrence and Mabel (Helmick) Swank. After graduating from University of Missouri High School he graduated from the University of Kansas in 1948 with a degree in Architecture. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked with Kiene & Bradley Architects and later supervised hospital construction for the State of Kansas in the State Architects Office then with the Federal Government in the Department of Health & Human Services. He retired in 1989. He was a lifetime member of the American Institute of Architecture. Roger married Letha Parrish on August 2, 1947 in Columbia, MO. She survives. Other survivors include daughter, Karen (Jack) Kemp and niece, Bonnie Benson of Kansas City, MO; and nephew, Richard (Sherry McGowan) Benson of Topeka, KS. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Inurnment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
