Rodney A. "Rod" Say, 70, of Topeka, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, January 12, 2017.
He was born June 1, 1946 in Topeka, the son of Frank and Dorothy (Lewis) Say.
After high school, Rod went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad, starting in the mailroom and working his way up to working as an accountant. His career took him and his wife to Chicago, California and back to Topeka. He retired after 43 years of service.
Rod loved to coach his son's baseball teams and was always very active in his church. Gospel music was an important part of his life and he enjoyed singing at several local churches where he was able to share Jesus Christ and the Truth of God with others. Most of all he loved his family, especially his nieces, nephews and foster nieces and nephews.
He married Judy A. Guilfoil on June 26, 1965 in Eskridge, KS. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Brian A. Say of Topeka and a sister, Cathy Cooper (Bob) of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bradley A. Say.
Rod will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene, 2835 S.E. Croco Rd., Topeka, KS 66605, with burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery.
