Rodney L. Steves, 65, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at his home with his family gathered together. He had cancer.
Rod was born on April 27, 1940 in Topeka, the son of Harold W., Sr. and Miriam Long Steves. He was a 1958 graduate of Topeka High School and attended Baker University. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for ten years, and worked at State Printers as a linotype operator. Rod then owned and operated Steves Typeshop, Inc. for 20 years, retiring in 2002.
He was a lifelong member of Lowman United Methodist Church.
He married Judy Moler on June 25, 1960 in Overland Park. She survives.
Other survivors include their two sons, Scott and wife, Carol, and their daughter, Sarah; Kevin and his daughters, Audrey and Loren; Kevin's fiance, Michelle Richards and her children, Austin and Natalie; his mother, Miriam Steves; sister, Mary Alice Smith; brother, Harold W. Steves, Jr.; aunt, Evelyn Seigle; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, all of the Topeka area.
Rod was preceded in death by his father, and brother-in-law, Bob Smith.
Cremation is planned. A celebration of Rod's life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Lowman United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at 1:00 pm at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
