Rodney Helmke
Rodney D. Helmke, 50, of Topeka, passed away, Sunday, October 27, 2002 at his home.
He was born June 5, 1952 at Zenda, Kansas the son of Dietrick and Elenor (Westerman) Helmke. He graduated from Campus High School, Haysville, Kansas in 1970. He attended Colby Community Junior College where he received his associate's degree.
Mr. Helmke was employed 30 years with U.S.D.A.. He had served as inspector at OHSE, La Siesta, and Reser's plants for 15 years. His previous 15 years of employement had been spent with the USDA in Colorado.
He attended Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene.
He was married to Earlene S. Kelley June 10, 1972 in Haysville, Kansas. She survives at the home. Other survivors include:
one daughter, Lisa Rogers Topeka, KS
one son, Ryan Helmke Topeka, KS
his parents, Dietrick and Elenor Helmke Wichita, KS
three sisters, LaVeda Carter Corona, CA
Marlene Fortenberry Orange, CA
Patty Brooks Valley Center, KS
and three grandchildren.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, Kansas 66614. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
