Roberta Ruth Vogel

Roberta Ruth (Neal) Vogel, 85, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Aldersgate Village.
Roberta was born March 9, 1930 in Goff, KS, to Alva W. and Elsie Mae (Rutledge) Neal. Roberta graduated from Soldier High School in 1948. She was in the first graduating class of the Jane C. Stormont School of Nursing in 1951. In 1952, she married John Vogel, in Topeka, KS. Roberta was a Staff Nurse at Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1975. After retirement she went to work in the family shoe repair business with John. They both retired in 1993. She was a charter member of John Knox Presbyterian Church until its closing in 1987. Roberta also attended Second Presbyterian Church in Topeka. She enjoyed genealogy, quilting and preparing family dinners.
She is survived by her two daughters, Margaret (Alan) Zillinger, and Elizabeth (Tim) Claiborne; five grandchildren, Michael (Roxanne), Michelle, Chandlin, Challim, and Adriana; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Zachary; sisters, Nadine Wheeler and Norma Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
Roberta was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, John Vogel.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Prairie Home Cemetery, 35th and Menoken Road, Topeka.
