Roberta May Wilson Daniel, 89, formerly of Topeka, passed away Friday, August 26, 2005 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
She was born August 30, 1915 in Altoona, Kansas, the daughter of Seward E. Wilson, Sr., and Mary L. Canty Wilson.
Mrs. Daniel graduated from the College of Emporia with a BS degree in education, and from Emporia State University with an MS degree in education. She taught English for 28 years in the Topeka Public Schools.
Mrs. Daniel was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Arab Shrine Ladies, Eastern Star, and several professional societies.
She married Claude T. Daniel on June 14, 1942. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2003.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana ( Mrs. Ted) Richardson, Houston, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Wayne Byers, Seneca, Kansas; four grandchildren, Bill Richardson and Linda Crow, Houston, Texas, Brian Byers, Decatur, Illinois, Dan Byers, Newton, Kansas; and two brothers, Seward E. Wilson, Jr., Detroit, Michigan, and William R. Wilson, Peoria, Arizona.
Mrs. Daniel will lie in state after 12:00 pm, Sunday, August 28 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, August 29 at Trinity Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
