Robert Lee Scott, Sr., 68, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020.
He was born October 20, 1951, in Edgewood, Texas, the son of Curtis and Ida (Bell) Scott. He received a High School Diploma from Edgewood High School. He honorably served in the United States Army, from 1975 till 1995. He served in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, during the Persian Gulf War.
Robert received several achievement awards, medals and recognition for his outstanding service to his country. He served as an Army recruiter for 9 years of his military career and was stationed overseas in places like Panama, Korea, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. He retired from military active duty in November 30, 1995, after 20 years of service.
Robert enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, watching his favorite TV shows and movies, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Robert married Ethel V. Scott on June 22, 1981, she survives. Other survivors include Daughters, Erika Haskins, Taisha Scott; Son, Robert L Scott, Jr.; Grandchildren, Pariss Kennedy, Akiya Barnes, Enthony Haskins, Nysir Scott, Khaia Hall, Abrianna Haskins, Azeion Scott, Ezra Haskins, Micah Haskins; Great- Granddaughter, Milly Jayne Scott and his siblings, Tommy Scott, Ida Hayes, Elbert Scott, Geraldine Alford, Katherine Richmond, Teresa Scott, Francis Scott and Hayward Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James and Glen.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS 66604. Robert will be laid to rest at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
