Robert Reed

Robert "Bob" Reed died with his family at his side on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.
He was born in Hermann, MO on December 7, 1930 to William A., Sr. and Marion Reed. Bob was in the Topeka public schools until the eighth grade then moved to Lake Ozark, MO where he attended and graduated from School of the Osage in 1948. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Navy where he was a Navigator in the Navy Air Corp.
After the military, he returned to Topeka and attended Washburn University. In May 1957, Bob graduated and the following month, married Astrid Skoog. Law school followed and by the time he received his Juris Doctorate, four daughters now made up the family. A move to Potwin followed where the Reeds added another daughter and enjoyed 30 years of living in this wonderful neighborhood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Reed, Jr. Bob is survived by his wife Ottie and daughters, Holly Reed (Topeka); Heather (Stan) Meier, Omaha; Hilary Harvey (Overland Park); Haley (Chuck) Dunlay, (Overland Park) and Heidy (Scott) Ackerman, (Spearville). Also are nine grandchildren: Anna & Cale Meier; Jackson, Aidan, Cate, and Eli Dunlay, and Kyler, Tess, and Emma Ackerman.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Central Congregational Church, 1248 SW Buchanan, Topeka. The family will greet friends and visitors following the service. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka, Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 SW 10th St., Topeka, KS 66604 or to Stormont-Vail Palliative Care Unit, 1500 SW 10th St, Topeka, KS 66604.
