Robert R. Pooler
85, Topeka, passed away January 23, 2004 at Midland Hospice House. He was born November 26, 1918 in Oakland, KS the son of Ralph R. and Harriet E.Pooler. He worked for Boeing in Wichita. Robert served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Iowa. He received his BS degree in Physics in 1951 from Washburn. He worked for the Santa Fe Railway for 35 years in the technical research and development department. Member of First Congregational Church. He volunteered for Topeka Chapter of the Red Cross and the Comeback Squad at Storming-Vail.
He was married to Dorothy E. Rhynas June 5, 1948 in Topeka, she survives.
Survivors include: Daughter; Evelyn K. Richter
Son, William R. Pooler both of Topeka
6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Private family interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church at 1:30PM, Tuesday, January 27, 2004. Mr. Pooler will lie in state after 1:00 pm Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel and a family visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 7:00PM that evening.Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregation Church, Brewster Place, Midland Hospice House.
