OBITUARY: Robert Ray "Bob" Laster
Robert Ray Laster, 93, Topeka, died Mon., Oct. 22, 2007, at Aldersgate Village. He was born Feb. 8, 1914, south of Lawrence, the son of Asa and Grace (Snow) Laster.
Bob was a World War II Army Veteran. He worked for Alexander Brothers Bakery for 31 years. After retiring he worked for Ryder Truck Rental and K.P.&L.
Bob was married to Ethel Louise Zornes on Dec. 31, 1936, at Lawrence. She survives. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Kay Rahmeier.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son: Ron Laster (Nancy) of Calvert, TX; 3 daughters: Linda Kay Everitt (Roger) of Louisburg, Donna Barr (Roger) of Topeka, and Brenda Schell (Vince) of Topeka; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildlren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM, Sat., Oct. 27, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth. Bob will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW Tenth, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
