Robert L. "Bob" Purdy, 73, Meriden, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2006 at his residence.
Bob was born August 11, 1932 in Topeka, the son of Jim and Bernice Athon Purdy.
He graduated from Highland Park High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Bob was employed by Hopkins Amusement and later worked for American Brands, retiring from there in 1992. He also farmed in the Meriden area since 1974.
He was a member of the Jimmy Lillard American Legion Post #31 in Rossville, and the Albert Neese Masonic Lodge #248 in Tecumseh.
Bob married Naomi F. "Noni" Burman on December 6, 1958 in Topeka. She died October 16, 1992. Survivors include a son; Steven E. Rolin and wife, Nancy, daughter; Linda K. Flye, and husband, Stephen, all of Topeka; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Mr. Purdy will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. on Monday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Foster Cemetery.
