Robert Hugh Pratt, 81, of Topeka, passed away, Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at Midland Hospice House.
Bob was born October 23, 1922 in Eskridge, Kansas, the son of Harmon Guy and Lura Kasson Pratt.
He graduated from Eskridge High School in 1940. He attended Emporia State University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Washburn University in 1948.
Mr. Pratt served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943-1945.
On August 17, 1946, he married Maxine Dorothy Painter at Potwin Presbyterian Church.
He worked for the American Home Life Insurance Company beginning in1950, retiring as Vice President/Secretary in 1987, and served on the Board of Directors from 1974 until 1991.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Topeka Evening Sertoma Club, American Legion Post #28, Shawnee Country Club, and Phi Delta Chi Fraternity.
Bob was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. The lives of his family and friends were enriched by his love and devotion.
He was preceded in death by Maxine, his wife of 57 years, on March 8, 2004. Survivors include: Two daughters, Pamela L. Shelton and her husband, Michael, Tulsa, OK; Deborah K. Wempe and her husband, Joe, Topeka; One son, Robert Douglas Pratt and his wife, Lori, Lenexa, KS; And his grandchildren, James A. Dowell, Madison, WI; Benjamin M. Dowell, New York City, NY; Anne K. Wempe and J. Samuel Wempe, Topeka; Ashley L. Pratt and Jennifer L. Pratt, Lenexa. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2004, at the First Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 22nd at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
