Robert D. Lueker

November 30, 1936 — June 10, 2021

Robert Dean Lueker, 84, of Topeka, Kansas, was surrounded by loved ones on June 10, 2021 after a battle with Alzheimer's. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jan Lueker and their cat, Buffy (Topeka); Jan's son, Kenny Pingleton and his partner, Heather Poort (Lawrence) and Jan's daughter, Kim Githere (Oakland, California).

Born November 30, 1936 as a proud 1st generation German American, he was raised and graduated from high school in Herington, Kansas. He later attended Kansas State University.

Bob enlisted with the Marines on May 28, 1954 based out of Camp Pendleton as a radio telegraph operator and was honorably discharged on May 27, 1957 as a Corporal. Among Bob's military honors was participating in Operation SKI JUMP aboard the U.S.S. Plumas County LST-1083 tank landing ship. He received the National Defense Service Medal.

After employment with the Rock Island Railroad, Bob spent over 20 years working for the State of Kansas and retired from the Kansas Department of Human Resources in January 1999 as a Supervisor of Administrative Operations in the Tax Office.

Bob travelled across Kansas as an accomplished award-winning bowler, a cat fancier, and was a golfing enthusiast.

Visitation will begin at 9am with services at 10am Monday, June 14, 2021. Burial with military honors will follow, concluding with a reception until 12noon all at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association - Topeka, 3625 SW 29th St. Suite 102, Topeka, KS 66614, in Bob Lueker's honor.
