Robert Lee Anderson, 79, died Monday, March 22nd at Hospice House in Topeka.
Robert was born Feb. 27, 1925 in Hollis, Ks to Andy & Willa Anderson. He graduated from Concordia High School. He attended El Dorado Jr. College and graduated for Kansas State University with a BS degree in Civil Engineering.
He served in the United States Marine Corps in the 3rd Division, serving in Guam and Iwo Jima. He married De Lois Berry on June 6, 1948.
Bob worked for the State of Kansas as Assistant Bridge Engineer for the Highway Dept in Topeka for 20 years. He was promoted to District Engineer Second District in Salina, Ks in 1976 and served in that capacity for an additional 20 years. Later he served as a consultant for Poe & Co. of Wichita, Ks.
He was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. In Salina, he belonged to Sunrise Presbyterian Church also serving as an elder. He was a member of 3rd Division Marine Corps Alumni Association and the KSU Alumni Association. He belonged to Kansas Engineering Society, the American Soc. Of Professional Engineers and the National Soc. of Professional Engineers. The Ks Engineering Soc. selected him as the Outstanding Engineer in 1984. He was a member of the Elks Club in Salina. He belonged to Sunflower Lions Club in Salina and the Downtown Lions Club in Topeka. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 385, Scottish Rites and the Shriner's Isis Patrol in Salina and Arab Patrol in Topeka. Bob was also a member of the Girl Scouts.
Bob enjoyed traveling, bird hunting, fishing and playing bridge. His wife De Lois preceded him in death in Aug 1999.
Daughters Pamela Oroke and Linda Charay, both of Topeka, his sister, Betty Calkins, of Sacramento, Ca and three grandchildren, Melissa Oroke, Jason Charay and Julie Charay, survive him.

Bob will lie in state at Penwell- Gabel Mid Town Chapel beginning noon Thursday. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Thursday evening.
