Robert L. Purkey

Robert L. "Bob" Purkey, 83, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Lexington Park Nursing Facility in Topeka. He was born on July 16, 1923 near Granola, KS, the son of Jess and Mae Dean Purkey. Bob was an Army veteran of WWII. He was employed by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 38 years before retiring in 1982. After retiring, he started Purkey Electrical, Inc. and was active in the business until 1995. He was a member of University United Methodist Church. Bob married Leona M. Schuel. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Rich of Topeka, and two grandchildren, Patrick and Krysten. Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 -8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
