Robert L. "Bob" Anderson, 87, Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015.
He was born March 28, 1928, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Frank and Lola (Shanley) Anderson.
Bob attended Topeka High School and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving during WWII and the Korean War, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. In 1998, he was inducted into the Topeka Bowling Hall of Fame and was a life long fisherman.
On May 7, 1957, he married Phyllis Nadine "Sue" Moffett in Casper, WY. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Marc (Pam) Anderson, Topeka; Vonnie (Jack) Anderson-Woodruff, Longmont, CO; Lisa (Jim) Fincham, Topeka; and five grandchildren, Megan Woodruff, Kallie Woodruff, Jake Woodruff, all of Longmont, CO; Michelle Anderson and Marcy Anderson, both of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Hauschild, his twin brother Jack and sister-in-law Lydia Anderson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 29 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Bob will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
