Robert Kirk

Robert N. Kirk, 88, of Topeka, passed away January 5, 2010.

Robert N. Kirk was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Topeka, son of John E. & Hazel Kirk. He received his education at Kansas State University; where he was the president of Alpha Kappa Psi (Business Fraternity). Robert served for the US Army during WWII where he was a Platoon sergeant, 274th Infantry Regiment and received the Bronze Star for Valor and the Distinguished Unit Citation for service in France & Germany 1944-1945.

Robert's career of 60 years began with Stevenson & Webb, Realtors, which later became Kirk & Cobb, Inc., Realtors, where he served as President and Chairman of Board for many years. He retired in 2007.

He served as President of Topeka Board of Realtors and President of Kansas Association of Realtors; and also served for several years as Director of National Assoc. of Realtors. Robert served as Real Estate Consultant to Topeka Board of Education 1956-1976. He also instructed Real Estate courses for the University of Kansas, Washburn University, and Kansas Assoc. of Realtors.

Robert received many business awards including REALTOR OF THE YEAR Award from both Topeka Board and Kansas Association of Realtors; Realtor Emeritus from the National Assoc. of Realtors in 1997; and the Distinguished Service Award from both the Kansas Assoc. of Realtors and the National Assoc. of Realtors.

Robert attended Central Church of Christ and was a 50 year member of the Shawnee Country Club.

Mr. Kirk was preceded in death by daughter Sherri Kirk and brothers Dean Kirk – Dallas TX, and Wyatt Kirk – Bossier City, LA.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Kirk-Topeka; sons Steve Kirk – Topeka, Doug Kirk,- Albuquerque, NM; daughters Becky Smith – Topeka, Judi Daniels – Acton, CA, Nancy Head – Houston, TX; 10 Grandchildren; and 12 Great-Grand Children.

Private graveside services will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 17th & Fairlawn, Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, 66606 or Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N Kansas, Topeka 66608. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
