Robert K. Kelley, 80, Southlake, TX, went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2016. He was born March 21, 1936, on a farm near Belleville, KS, to Ralph and Helen (Kuhn) Kelley.
Bob attended a one-room schoolhouse in Republic County for eight grades and graduated from Belleville High School in 1954. In 1958 he graduated from Kansas State University with a BS in Business Administration. He served in the Kansas National Guard for 6 years.
He was employed by Whelan Lumber Company in the early 1960's and later went to Armco Steel Corporation where he worked in production and transportation for nearly 20 years. He was Career Services Director for Topeka Technical College for several years before retiring. After retirement, he drove and scheduled transport vehicles for the Kansas Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
On September 18, 1959, he married Dixie Good in Topeka. She survives. Also surviving are daughters, Robin (Mark) Arnold, Ft. Worth, TX; Kristin (Scott) Billingsley, Keller,TX; and five grandchildren, Jonathan, Allison, and Matthew Arnold, and Cole and Carter Billingsley. A sister, Sharon Dolezal, York, NE, also survives.
Bob was a member of West Side Christian Church in Topeka for over 55 years where he served in many capacities, including deacon and elder. In 2014 he and Dixie moved to Southlake, TX, to be near their daughters and families.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2016, at West Side Christian Church, 432 SW Lindenwood, Topeka, KS 66606. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
