Robert Louis Holstein, 50, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023. His legacy will carry on through his courteous donation to Midwest Transplant as an organ and tissue donor.
He was born November 13, 1972, on Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, Maryland, the son of James Thomas and Wilma (Tuckwin) Holstein, Sr. He graduated from Leary School.
Through the years, Robert worked in construction, local produce driver, and worked in a hardware store.
He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe.
Robert enjoyed fishing, but also had multiple fish tanks at home that he cared for. He was a lifelong dog lover, especially pit bulls. You would often find Robert in the kitchen creating new concoctions to feed his family, but also had a passion for Chinese and Mexican food. When he was younger, Robert would tinker on cars and learned the history of different cars. He was a caretaker for his father and took good care of him in the home.
Robert is survived by his father, James Thomas Holstein, Sr.; two sisters, Donna Holstein and Millie Holstein; Nephew, Paul Holstein; great nieces, Gabriella Holstein and Izabella Holstein; one great nephew, Dominic Holstein and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma J. Holstein and brother, James Thomas Holstein, Jr.
His family will greet relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66604. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society 5720 SW 21st, Topeka, KS 66604-3720.
