ROBERT WARREN HESS
Robert W. Hess, 86, of Topeka died January 19, 2005 at a Topeka nursing home. He was born on November 11, 1918 in Omaha, Nebraska to John Raymond and Verna Burdette Hess. Mr. Hess graduated from Topeka High School in 1937 and attended Kansas University in Lawrence. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in the Civitan Club and VFW. Mr. Hess was a pilot in World War 11 serving in the South Pacific, and was discharged from the Air Force as a Captain. Mr. Hess owned and operated "The J.R. Hess Chemical Company" for 22 years. He retired after selling the company in 1981.
Mr. Hess was married to Mildred L. Dunlap on November 20, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland. She preceded him in death. Cremation is planned with private memorial services.
