Robert L. Haley, 81, of Topeka, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011.
Robert was born August 10, 1930, in Beattie, KS, son of Louis and Ada (Eckstrum) Haley. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, touring on the USS New Jersey. Robert was united in marriage to Norma Niemann on February 15, 1953, in Marysville, KS. He was a machinist for various businesses in the Topeka area. Robert was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Topeka.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Haley, Topeka; children, Felecia (Rick) Goins, Natalie Haley, Robert Haley, Jr., and Nathan Haley, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Jeremy Goins and Kyle (Sara) Goins; great-grandchildren, Tyler Goins, Caleb Goins, and Alayna Goins; and siblings, Larrene Diehl, Arvada, CO; Lillian Roberts, Amery, WI; and Joyce (Paul) Holenbeck, Frankfort, KS.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Grace Davis, Ella Mae Schneider, Pearl Roesch, and Margaret Ward, and granddaughter, Mariah Goins.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage, Topeka, KS 66604. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Robert will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 12th, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, where the family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday.
