Robert Garcia, 49, of Topeka, formerly of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away, Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the Colmery-O'Neil V.A. Hospital in Topeka.
He was born May 25, 1957 in Corpus Christi the son of Felix and Ofelia Garza Garcia. He recently received his Bachelors Degree in accounting from Park University.
Robert is a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served in Operation Desert Shield and the Gulf War.
He worked as a procurement manager for Texas A.& M. University in Corpus Christi. After coming to Topeka he worked as a security officer for West Star Energy.
Robert is survived by his mother Ofelia Arispe, Topeka; two daughters, Robin Denise Garcia and Christina Nicole Garcia, both of Corpus Christi, TX; his sister Virginia Garrity and husband Gus, San Antonio, TX; three brothers, Felix Garcia and wife Yolanda, Rockport, TX; Juaquin G. Deleon and wife Anna, Topeka; and George Garcia , San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Tony Garcia.
Robert will lie in state after 10:00am Tuesday the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7:00pm Wednesday followed by a time of family remembrance and visitation until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment services with military honors will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
