Robert (Bob) Lee Fincham, 90, of Topeka, passed away on April 13, 2016 at Midland Care Hospice.
He was born September 14, 1925 in Blue Rapids, KS, the son of Stephen E. and Jessie (Tyler) Fincham.
He was the youngest of six children including three brothers, Kenneth, Linus and Rollin; and two sisters, Mary and Lucille. He graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1941, at the age of 16, as Salutatorian and is a National Merit Scholar. He farmed the family homestead until 1957 when he moved his family to Topeka where he served as a Postal Clerk for 31 years, retiring in 1990.
Bob loved to sing and was a member of multiple church choirs over the years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a lifetime member of the Blue Rapids and Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and was Past Master at Blue Rapids. As a member of the Topeka Arab Shrine he sang in the Chanters Choir. Bob loved his family and spent countless hours attending his children's and grandchildren's performances and sporting events and participating with them in activities such as fishing and camping. He also loved traveling and, in addition to trips to England, Scotland, Ireland and Panama, he and his wife visited every state in the USA except for Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings and granddaughter Jessie Leigh Fincham.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Anne (Mall) Fincham, sons and daughters Robert D. (Ann) Fincham of Topeka; Linda S. (Greg) Garasimowicz of Mukwonago, WI.; Stephen A. (Evelyn) Fincham of Colorado Springs, CO; Ronald L. (Margie) of Colorado Springs, CO; M. Daniel (Sylvia) Fincham of New Bern, NC; William D. Fincham of Colorado Springs, CO; Nine grandchildren and five great grand children and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on May 14, 2016 at Trinity Presbyterian Church of Topeka. A visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the memorial service beginning at 11:00. A light lunch will be served in the Trinity Church Fellowship Hall following the memorial service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, Trinity Presbyterian Church, Midland Care of Topeka or the Shriners Hospitals for Children Burn Care Center.
