Robert D. Ediger, 89, of Topeka, KS passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, peacefully in his sleep after a long battle with dementia.
Born on March 11, 1935 in Henderson, Nebraska, the son of David and Helena Ediger, he was the third of seven siblings, Jacob, Katherine, (Robert), Alvin, Walt, Rosella, and Virgil.
Robert graduated high school in 1954, and attended Tabor College from 1954 - 1956. It was there that he met the love of his life, Evelyn (Janzen) Ediger of Dinuba, California. In August 1956 Robert left to serve two years, alternative service with PAX in Asuncion, Paraguay building the Trans Choco Highway. Upon his return, he and Evelyn married and moved to Topeka, KS. It was here they settled down, had three children and started his career in homebuilding with help from his brother, Jake. Robert was a well-respected home builder and land developer for 50 plus years. He and Evelyn have been members of Cornerstone Community Church since 1959.
He will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn; children: Mark (Beth) Ediger, Joan (Ediger) Felling, and Daniel Ediger, brother Virgil, sisters, Katherine and Rosella, 7 grand-children and 5 great-grandchildren.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, David and Helena, brothers, Jake, Alvin, Walt, and son-in-law, David Felling.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 8th at 11:00AM at Cornerstone Community Church, 7620 SW 21st St. Topeka, KS 66615.
