Robert D. Smith

Robert D. Smith, 82, of North Richland Hills, TX, formerly of Topeka, KS, passed away Monday, November 23, 2009 at Universal Hospice in Ft. Worth, TX.

He was born March 3, 1927 in Randall, Kansas, the son of Jesse Allen and Julia Margaret (Jamison) Smith. He was a graduate of Mankato High School. He served in the United States Army.

He was employed by the State of Kansas in the Adjutant General's Office, retiring after 40 years of service.

Robert married Gwen L. (Willows) on December 23, 1950 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2000. Survivors include his daughter, Tamara R. Lee (Don) of North Richland Hills, TX, his brother, Gary L. (Carol) Smith of Columbia, MO; a grandson, Tyler; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharyl and Karl Anderson of Lutz, FL; a niece, a nephew, three great nieces and a great nephew.

Funeral ceremonies will be 11 a.m., Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow the service. Private inurnment will be at Mount Hope Mausoleum, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Association of NE Kansas, P.O.
