Robert Duane Cast, 77, of Topeka, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014.
He was born in Bearer Crossing, Nebraska, on November 5, 1936, to Robert Henry Cast and Hazel Leona Terril Cast. After a year in a local college, he joined the Air Force. Bob's Air Force time and training led him into a career of space and missiles with Lockheed Martin in California, where he retired. After retiring, due to his wife's illness, he worked as an animal lab driver. After her death he was offered a position with his church. He worked for Community Church in Santa Clara, California, until his move to Kansas in 2007; marrying Janet M. Cast on December 7, 2007. Together they served the Lord in Nigeria until February 2014.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jan Cast, three step-children: Beth (Chris) Smith, Topeka, Scott (Luanne) Biskie, Fort Hays, Jason. (Carina) White, Santa Clara, California (serving in Kuwait), ten step-grandchildren, his Nigerian ward/son, Paul David Cast, three sisters: Marilyn Horbal, Isaniti, Minnesota, Karen (Larry) Parker, Spokane, Washington, Shirley (Dave) Clark, Phoenix, Arizona, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Community Church, 1819 SW 21st Street, Topeka. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 6th & Gage, Topeka.
He will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
