Robert D. "Bob" Botsford, 72, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at a Topeka care facility with his family by his side.
He was born February 17, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO, the son of John Clarence and Dorothy Cox Botsford. He was an Army veteran. Bob received a Bachelor's degree from Baker University.
He was employed by KSNT 27 as the Production Manager for 28 years. During his tenure, he was a huge part of the community creating "Go 4th" in the 1980's and was involved in several other committees including those of Cider Days, Railroad Days and the Festival of Carols among many others. He was a member of Fairlawn Heights Wesleyan Church.
Bob married Barbara Sifford on January 27, 1968 in Independence, MO. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2000. He married Rhonda Lunnon on September 29, 2001 in Quinter, KS. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Sharon Botsford-Breshears of Topeka and Megan Ball of Grain Valley, MO, two step-daughters, Jennifer Engel of Topeka and Julie Rand of Watertown, NY and ten grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Bob will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
