Robert Raymond Crawford, 79, of Palm Springs, CA, passed away December 31, 2011 in Palm Springs, CA. Robert was born January 12, 1932 in Topeka, Kansas to Raymond and Vera Crawford. Robert started his television career in 1952 as a cameraman for WIBW, a television station in Topeka, Kansas, where he stayed until he joined ABC in 1958. He worked on many special events including The Lawrence Welk Show, the Apollo 8 landing aboard the USS Yorktown, the Battle of the Network Stars, The Dinah Shore Winner Circle, The Colgate Triple Crown, Hollywood Palace and Summer Jam. He was especially proud of the work he did at the inaugurations of Presidents Truman, Nixon and Reagan. He is survived by his long time family friend, Allen Stann. He was a beautiful friend to many, and loved by all of those who knew him. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., January 12, 2012 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
