ROBERT WILLIAM BURNS, DDS
FEBRUARY 7, 1948 - JULY 31, 2006
Robert William Burns, DDS, 58, of Topeka, passed away at his home, July 31, 2006, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born February 7, 1948 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Robert E. and Marvelle K. Burns. He grew up in Cherryvale and married Connie Hawkins. They had two children, Robert Edward and William McKendree Burns.
Bob graduated from Kansas State College of Pittsburg in 1969 and UMKC Dental School in 1973. He practiced dentistry in McPherson, KS; Iola, KS; Kansas City, MO; and Topeka, KS.
In September of 1991, Bob married Gayle Montgomery of Topeka and her two daughters, Francie and Debra, were added to his family.
He was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Topeka. Civic affiliations included past membership in the Rotary Club International, Optimist Club International, and Trustee for the UMKC Conservatory of Music. He volunteered for the Marian Clinic since its beginning in 1989. He served as a Board Member for the Boys and Girls Club of Topeka.
Bob made mission trips to Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica, and most recently, to Talpetates, El Salvador, where he offered dental surgery services to its residents.
Bob is survived by his wife, Gayle; son, Robert Edward Burns and his wife, Susan, and grandchildren, Hannah, Cassandra, and Jackson, all of Coppell, TX; son, William McKendree Burns, and grandchildren, Leilani, Mia, and Aidan, of Lewisville, TX; daughter, Francie Cortez and her husband, Louis, and grandchildren, Caprice, Louie, and Camille of Topeka; daughter, Debra Miglionico and her husband, Alan of Olathe, Kansas; and sister, Susan Padfield and her husband, Jerry, of Gannett, KS, and their son, Mark of Tonganoxie, KS.
Bob touched so many lives with his humor, love, and loyalty. He will be dearly missed by wonderful friends and his family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 4, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church of Topeka, 817 SW Harrison. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Mission Fund, 817 SW Harrison, Topeka, KS 66612. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting with cremation.
