Robert Neal "Bob" Bryant, 73, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 4th, 2021.

He was born September 13, 1947, in Falls City, Nebraska, the son of William Henry and Virginia Lois (Chesnut) Bryant. He was a 1965 graduate of Holton High School and attended Highland Junior College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later served in the Air National Guard in Topeka. A member of the 190th Air Guard pistol team which won the national Winston P. Wilson combat match at Camp Robinson in 1980.

Bob was employed by the Shawnee County Sheriff's Department for 32 years until retiring in June, 2003. While serving in the department he was a member of the S.W.A.T. team, was a firearms instructor, and Range Master.

He was a member of the Capital City Gun Club.

Bob Married Rebecca "Becky" Niles on June 12th, 1976 in Lebo, Kansas. She survives in Topeka. He is also survived by his son, William Bryant, an executive working in Tech out of Silicon Valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, William Terrill Bryant; his brother, Teddy Lynn Bryant; and his sister, Linda Sue Mitchell.

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, and the outdoors in general. He was also a voracious reader of Science Fiction novels; the number of books he read numbering in the 10s of thousands. He was known for his quick-wit, friendly nature, and delicious BBQ. Over the years, he contributed to a number of patents and designs still in use today.

Cremation is planned. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Woodshed, 1901 N Kansas Ave, Topeka, KS 66608, on Sunday July 18th from 3-5pm. For more information, please contact the family or Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions in Topeka who is assisting the family.
