Robert Badsky

Robert "Bob" Badsky Jr. 90, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007. Bob was born April 28, 1917 in Topeka, the son of Robert Badsky Sr. and Ruby McCann Badsky. He attended grade school at Oakland, junior high at Holliday and high school at Topeka High School. At the time of his high school graduation in 1935 he was given special recognition for never being absent or late during all 12 years of his schooling. He attended the University of Kansas from 1935-1936 traveling to Lawrence daily by train.
He married Mary Catherine Cameron on February 2, 1938.They later divorced.
He began work for the Santa Fe Railroad in 1941. In April of 1944 he joined the 76th Division of the 304th Army Infantry and served in Germany as a cook until November of 1945. He returned to work for the railroad holding a position in Car Accounting and also represented the Brotherhood of Railway clerks as Division Chairman. Later in his career, he was promoted to Supervisor and he held that position until his retirement in 1978. During his retirement he enjoyed working in his yard and watching his grandchildren participate in various activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Roberta Chotlos; his brother, Edward Badsky and a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Badsky. He leaves a loving companion of 43 years, Murle Cibulski, sons, Robert Badsky III (Nici) Summerfield, FL; John Badsky (Carol) Berryton, Kansas; Grandchildren, Randy Badsky (Sue); Robin Badsky, Matthew Badsky (Jennifer), Topeka, Kansas; Sarah Badsky Rodina (Nick) Springhill, Kansas and 4 great grandchildren, Nick Badsky, Bailey Badsky, Bryce Badsky and Aubrey Rodina to mourn his passing.
A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2007, at Penwell Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th . In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Midland Hospice, 200 S.W. Frazier Cr., Topeka, KS 66614. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
