Robert Stanley Anderson passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Brewster Place in Topeka, Kansas. He was born October 1, l918, to Marguerita Robinson Anderson and Clifford Stanley Anderson in Ripon, California.
He graduated from high school in Sparks, Nevada. Bob was inducted into the Air Corps in l941. He served in the United States Air Force at Moffatt Field, in San Jose, California, and at Minter Field in Bakersfield, California. He was then transferred to La Junta, Colorado, Air Base where he served as a mechanics instructor for B-25 engines. He attended Flight Engineer School at Maxwell Field in Alabama and was honorably discharged in l945 as a staff sergeant.
He married Louvina Johnston in La Junta, Colorado, February 7, l943. He was owner/operator of Johnston Cleaners until l977 when he joined Oliver Manufacturing Company in Rocky Ford, Colorado. He worked there until l987. He was active in the First Baptist Church of La Junta, serving as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the choir.
He and his wife moved to Topeka, Kansas, in l990 to be near their daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Lucky DeFries and their 2 grandchildren, Ashley, and Brett DeFries. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church, Topeka, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife Louvina in December, 2001, and 2 brothers. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Lucky, and their children, Ashley and Brett, and nieces and nephews Addison, Grant, Gary, Mark and Annelle Johnston, Becky Cornelius, Carol Ann Hixon, Kathi Gates, and sister-in-law Sammy Johnston.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005 at First Baptist Church of Topeka. Inurnment will be in Rocky Ford Colorado.
