Robert Alan Brewer

Robert Alan Brewer, 71, passed away February 19, 2013. He was born September 26, 1941, in Melvern, KS, the son of William Benner and Helen Duckworth Brewer. He was a graduate of Melvern High School and worked as a grain inspector for the State of Kansas. On February 4, 1961, in Melvern, KS, Robert married Judy Lewis. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Tod Brewer and Chris (Stephanie) Brewer; daughter, Debra Graves; grandchildren, Shawna, Jacob, Jacie, Bryan, and Maria; four great grandchildren; and sister, Vernalee Olson.

Robert enjoyed working outside and fixing things, which he had a talent for. Other hobbies of Robert's included bird watching and going to the shooting range (he had a 44 Magnum like Dirty Harry). For several years, he delivered Meals on Wheels and enjoyed the interaction. He belonged to a special card group for many years and enjoyed attending Civic Theatre with his wife and friends. Robert's favorite pastime was spending time with his family at home and KU sports.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Meals on Wheels - Topeka, 5724 SW Huntoon St., Topeka, KS 66604.
